Cat-O-Lympics-Bird and Squirrel Watching.

Today is the last event that we are competing in. We would have liked to take part in the bare paw fighting too, but if we are honest, it's very rare for us to fight. We have a bit of a rassle now and again, but we prefer snuggling to fighting.
This is the Bird and Squirrel Watching discipline hosted by the Furry Bambinos.

Eric: I am taking part in the squirrel watching. The squirrel has just arrived on the hedge to eat the seeds the birds have dropped from the feeders. I am on the cat tree and keep my head and body low. You can see him beside my right ear.

I slowly lift my head for a better view. He hasn't seen me.

Success! A second one arrives.
He still doesn't see me watching and sits eating the seeds. He is lucky Flynn is asleep because he isn't a watcher like me. He would be out of the door and chase him up the tree.

Flynn: I am taking part in the bird watching. This is a pheasant which is a very big bird, almost as big as me. As he is on our property, rather than watch him, I am escorting him off the premises.

  1. Hehehe Flynn I think you got a little more than bird watching Bird chasing is more like it and that deserves like a platinum medal. Look at how good you are at controlling yourself your just enjoying the chase when you could have taken that bird down!

  12. Oh, fabulous! I especially loved Flynn and the pheasant. When I was growing up (so many decades ago), our neighbour raised pheasants (and many other types of birds as well).

Well, I think you both are in the running for a medal!

BTW, I like the new header; looks great!

  18. Eric, you are a champion squirrel-watcher, and I know whereof I speak. My Dante's pretty darn good at that one, too. But he does more than watch -- he ends up chasing them away, too.

And I must say that Flynn is doing a whole lot more than just watching that pheasant. I admire his self-control under the circumstances.

  20. I just look out the window. There's not too many birds or squirrels these winter days to watch, but I just like to look out the window in any case. I don't care if I see anything but snow. It's the looking out the window that's important! ;)

  21. When you are watching, squirrels appear? That is amazing.
And we think Flynn is very talented in pheasantherding. Maybe he should consider making it a career?
