Flynn Update.

Flynn has improved a lot over yesterday evening and last night. We are overjoyed at the change in him.
He is eating some food now, not as much as I would like, but some is better than none. We all had a good nights sleep last night after being up all night with him the night before.
He is spending most of his time sleeping, but it is a more relaxed sleep now and not the uncomfortable way he was stretched out on his tummy before. We truly thought we were going to lose him Saturday night. I hope now that it was a reaction to the antibiotics and not as the vet feared, the organs shutting down.
Thank you everybody for all the purrs and prayers. They do seem to be working. Thank you also for the different suggestions to help Flynn which I am looking into.
Several of you said it was good to see him back in the grass when I took the pee sample. That photo was taken last Thursday before he got so ill. Hopefully he will soon feel well enough again to go out into the fields he loves.

Under the table enjoying some sun.
I think mum needs to get the duster out!

  12. I don't read many blogs on the weekend, so I was unpleasantly surprised to read of Flynn's ordeal. What a frightening time for all of you. I am glad, very glad that Flynn has improved a bit. That was clever of you to think of the dressing gown for him to curl up in. He does look more restful in his latest picture. Whatever he has I hope it is disappearing, and Flynn recovers fully. I'll be thinking of him and checking in each day.

  49. Still sending purrs and prayers. I don't know if this will help but I have treated cats with pancreatic and intestinal issues (still have one) and I recommend doing Sub-Q's at least twice a day (they usually feel better if well hydrated). I also use metronidazole to reduce inflammation and use mirtazapine as an appetite stimulant. I recommend reducing the fat content of the food, too. Practically all vets will tell you that fat has nothing to do with it, but I have had several cats with acute pancreatitis and this has helped them. Some of it is just trial and error--I don't think the scientific community really understands it. After all, it was just several years ago that they thought cats were not really affected by it and now they think it is immune-mediated and quite common. I also have a housecall vet who will administer anti-nausea meds and pain meds to help my cat rest better.
