More baby photos posted in January2011 but taken in May 2000.
At the beginning of December we said our Friday Flashbacks were coming to an end as we had got to the end of 2009 and didn't want to repeat 2010 yet. We were thinking of looking back through our older photos and posting our favourites. The older ones are pre digital and are either scanned or photos taken of the photos, so like the photos today are not very good quality. We hope you still enjoy them.Baby Eric and Flynn.
Eric and Kitty YB.
Eric: She didn't want anything to do with us when we first came but I was determined that she would love me and was very soon able to climb on the bed to sleep next to her. She was only a little kitty weighing 6lbs so you can see how small I was then.
*For those who don't know, Kitty Yumbum was the last of the original cats. When my MIL died we took on her 10 cats. She only had the males neutered so we took the two females to be spayed but one, Mother Puss, was already in kitten again. She had seven kittens and we found homes for six of them. The seventh was Kitty Yumbum originally called Baby Yumbum. When all the other cats had passed on she was pining so we got Eric and Flynn from a local farm where life expectancy was very short for kittens and young cats. We thought she would accept the kittens as always having been part of a large family of cats. After a few days and Eric's insistence she became inseparable from them and lived for another two years.*
Playing with my old sheepskin slippers.
Eric always beside Kit but Flynn not so sure of her yet.
I am joining Athena, the Cat Goddess for Caturday Art.
For this picture I used Landscape at 65%, then Ceremony at 30%.
I used Beauty at 30%, then Flow at 25%.
I am also joining MessyMimi for the blog hop.
Those were the sweetest photos and I enjoyed each and every one of them. Hugs from all of us.
ReplyDeleteOf course the baby pictures will always be welcomed, at least by me. My modern pictures aren't always that great, either, but I post them and have fun and that's the point.
ReplyDeleteI love this, Kitty Yumbum with the babies who recharged her interest in life.
Thank you for linking up with Feline Friday!
that is so cute... and we love the name yumbum ;o)
ReplyDeleteAh! What can one say.....!!! Bless! :O) XX
ReplyDeleteI've mostly only seen pictures of the boys when they were grown up. We forget they start out as Tiny kittens. Oh so cute they were and how lovely that they were able to sleep with the one cat that was still with you. More kitten pictures would be wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, I'm squeeing at the baby pics! π»π»
ReplyDeleteI didn't know (or perhaps remember!) Kitty Yumbum's story. Baby Eric snuggled up with her is just so adorable!
These are wonderful photos!!
ReplyDeleteJackie thank you for the info on Kitty Yumbum and the very lucky 10 kitties you took in. I love the baby photos
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
I enjoy so much seeing all the photos; the baby ones are absolutely precious! My Lucy was also about 6 pounds, so I can imagine how small your Kitty Yumbum was. Lovely catwork! Hope all is well. Until next time...Jean

ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet story about Kitty Yumbum! Eric and Flynn were just the most precious babies.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hadn't read the story of Angel Kitty Yumbum; thank you for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteLove your artwork, and will puzzle just as soon as I get some food in front of Henry...he's gonna eat me if I don't!
Any pictures and stories of the brothers are welcome. I love seeing them as kittens; maybe the last time Eric was svelte... (Oh, that's not nice.) I'm glad Kitty Yumbum was able to provide mature comfort and love for the boys.
ReplyDeleteThose baby pictures and the story of how they came to be there absolutely captures my heart. Precious little boys and they had a "substitute Mum" for a while too until she passed on. What a wonderful story it all is and we really truly know those little boys had the very best life EVER with you and Ivor. Thanks for sharing them with us - they will certainly NEVER be forgotten.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam
Those photos are very sweet!
ReplyDeleteWe are so shocked and sad about Stippie.
We enjoy any and every photo of Eric and Flynn, and these are no exception. We loved hearing about how they came to be yours, and their becoming cose with Kitty YumBum. LIke her, we could not resist loving the boys. :)
ReplyDeleteMe and dad read the rest of this post and all the photos, but we just can't get past the cuteness of the Baby Eric & Flynn photo!
ReplyDeleteSqueeeeeeeeeeeeee! What adorable babies! And Kitty YB too! These are from before We knew you, so in a way, they're extra special.
ReplyDeleteYes, I have a LOT of pre-digital images even of Pipo & Minko...some of which I scanned for the time I was on Catster, and some for our blog. Scanning woks pretty well these days.
ReplyDeleteBut when we used film, I didn't take nearly as many pictures...
Eric and Flynn were such tiny darlings!
Our Mom does not have very many photos from 'before digital' and for her, digital started in 1992! Alas, those photos are stored on a couple of ancient hard drives that won't 'talk' to any of the newer HD readers! But she has some ideas...We love seeing the old photos of the boys when they were little and Kitty YB! What a grand cat she was! Keep being awesome! Marvelous Marv
ReplyDeleteLove the baby boys and KYB!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the old photos and Kitty's story
ReplyDeleteAwww so fun to see these photos! They were so tiny! Cats are just the best aren't they? I have 3 here at my home and cat hair all over everything haha. I am going to have to have my carpets cleaned soon. So worth it though!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that we lost such a precious kitty
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm so sorry to read about Stippie and send my condolences to his family. Jean
