Caturday Art - Boys on a Ladder.

Click on the pictures to enlarge.
If you think this picture looks familiar you are right.
I used the same photo for Caturday Art in July, but there was something about it that I was not happy with. I don't know what it is but I knew I wanted to do another version of it.

Here is the original photo.

And here is the picture I posted in July:
I keep trying to work out what displeases me about it. I think maybe it is the frame with the ladder and boards make too many straight lines. Any opinions? I am happier with today's version.

  5. Agree with Speedy ~ it's the colors in the new version ... they "pop" ~ and ones eyes go right to Eric and Flynn without being distracted by other elements (my artsy critique, ha ha!!!) ... and I think I also agree with you on the framing, that it creates a few too many lines/angles. Sigh, enuf said ... you'd think I was teaching a class. Giving you an A+, kiddo! HUGS!

  6. I think the new one is better too, miss Jackie. The old one looks kind of metallic, with the frame, it has something, but not it! Maybe you have to use a different frame, something antiques, to make it look different...but, as miss Ellen already said, everything with the Angels inside is absolutely purrfect <3 Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend :) <3

  7. The new version shows the ginger boys off so much better than the first version from July - and of course the colors - particularly the sky - are wonderful. This is a favorite photo of the boys!!

  11. I love this photo! It's just a great photo of two cats doing cat things, body language, expressions, background. It's fun to play with photos, but that works best with a good photo to start with.

  17. The colors really do "pop" and we love how it looks like a real painting with brush strokes able to be seen. Such a cute picture of the boys.

  21. I definitely LOVE the textures in today's version.

  22. The more vivid blue sky gives the picture more depth and sets off the boys fabulous ginger coats, just like a sunny day. I'll never forget when I saw Eric and Flynn for the first time on their blog. It was a photo of them on green grass and I thought that they were so beautiful and their furs couldn't possibly be that orange. But they were!

  23. We like this version too. It seems to have more body.Maybe because the sky is stronger and adds balance :)

  29. I think the texture and colours in the older picture belnded too much together. There is a more three-dimensional look to the newer version. I do like it better than the old.

  32. Jackie! Today's art piece is absolutely lovely. The color balances so well and the diagonals really make the images pop!
The play of color between the blue and orange really works well.

  33. You did a super job turning that photo into a work of art. Of course, with Eric and Flynn in the picture...it already was a work of art.

  34. I like all three photos, but I do like the edited one from today better than the one from July, simply because it is more colorful and lively. :) Great job on all three photos, though, they are all wonderful!

  36. Great photo and super artwork!

Thank you for the thoughtful and kind comment you made on our post about our Daddy. We know he's an Angel smiling down on us but we are heartbroken.

  39. They are both great pictures from a wonderful and I mean that sincerely, original. Each has its own character but I think the newer on is the one for us, something to do with the colour of the sky and the balance, no pun intended given the boys balancing on the ladder.
Sending lots of love to you all

  40. I like the second version, the one you did on the 7th. The focus, or center of the picture, is on the boys. They are so cute. I like it better. Hugs to you.
