We are so sorry to hear of this sweet mancat's passing. You were the first blog we started following, years ago, and have always been one of the most special to us. We know you are destroyed tonight, losing such a special furriend. No words from us can make this easier, but know that Eric and Flynn were and are loved, and the rest of your family as well. - heads bowed, the Whiskeratti.

It is never easy to lose a cat, either an old cat or a young cat. My Sandy lived over 20 years; Butler less than 15 months.

ReplyDeleteOh Jackie. Even though we knew Flynn had health issues for quite some time, we are devastated that it was time for him to make his journey to the Bridge. He and Eric, and you and Ivor, have been such wonderful friends to us for so long that we feel as though we have lost a family member. Surely Flynn and Eric are together again, chasing mousies and lounging in big giant flower pots. And together with all of our beloved ones who have gone before.

I am so very sorry, Jackie and Ivor. I read the news in the early hours and spent the rest of the night thinking about my favourite orange farm mancat, and wishing I had got to meet him. But I felt I had met him through you and the wonderful posts and photos, and stories you told. 'Legend' doesn't cover it. And the way he kept going for the last years was incredible- but something must have made Eric call to him and now they are reunited. You were the best humans they could possibly have had, and they had the best environment ; and had you trained going for walks etc. I know there'll be huge emptiness now. I've lit a candle on the Catio and there's nearly 24's daylight now but in autumn I shall look for Flynn's tailio in the sky, dancing with all the others in the Northern Lights. ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry to read that Flynn had to be helped over The Bridge. We are all in sorrow here for you. TBT turned on the Puter and visited Cat Blogosphere and saw. He called us all over at once. Since his eyes were dripping tears, we guessed what it was about.
ReplyDeleteWe and TBT have been expecting this sad day; we knew Flynn was struggling. But you never expect it on anny particular day. That it is a day we will all reach, Beins, kitties, woofies and all, does not matter, it is still a sad day.
Flynn (and Eric) were 2 of our favorite kitties. Their wide-ranging adventures over the fields encouraged US to spend time outdoors exploring The Big Back Yard observing the local critters; hunting small ones and watching larger ones carefully.
There is SO MUCH we learned from them both, but this is not the place to talk of that. Today is a time to simply remember all the good adventures they had, their happiness together, and how Flynn kept up the tradition after Eric left.
Today, our thoughts are of you, his pawrents, and the sadness you are feeling. TBT says he knows the sadness in your heart in general having lost Skeeter and LC years ago.
All of us here share your grief and wish you comfort and care and love... We kitties are sending our Best Purrs Of Comfort.
Run free, Flynn. Run free of pain and tiredness there over The Bridge and be young and healthy. Sit quietly with Eric again. Meet departed friends again...

Knowing this would happen sooner rather than later, doesn't make it easier. You can't really prepare. Jackie, you've had a rough year what with your own illness, so losing Flynn seems really unfair. ReplyDeleteThe news of Flynnie's passing is unbearable. Our love and prayers are with you, Jackie and Ivor. We have loved Flynn, (and Eric) as if he was our own. The love we have for him will never die. His beautiful spirit will always be a part of us. There is little that can comfort all of us whose life he so enriched except to believe he is again with is brother, both strong and healthy and we'll get to see him again when it is our time to cross.

Since I started following Flynn and Eric, I've mourned not knowing more about Eric (I remember one of my comments you replied to saying Eric used to pounce on Flynn all the time ... much to Flynn's annoyance). Altho we did not know Flynn for years I so enjoyed visiting your blog & seeing your marvellous boy. I knew from the last few pix he was not doing well (he looked a lot like Nylablue near the end.) I tried to prepare myself for Flynn's passing...but the tears keep coming....I am so very sorry for your loss. May Flynn run free in Summerland.

One of my first bloggie kitty friends ever, back when I had Caesar and Princess. I loved your boys, I loved both of you and the adventures you shared. I know They were waiting in Heaven with open paws for Flynn, and Eric was there too. And also Pierro, he died last October at only 8 1/2 years.

Now, I cannot say, "Thus saith the Lord," about this as I can other things, but I cannot imagine Heaven being nearly as joyous without our beloved pets being there with us.

Please take solace in the knowledge that Flynn had the most marvelous life a cat could ever have. He had a loving home, and the ability to explore the great outdoors at will -- and what a landscape he had to explore! And now as you have pointed out, he will be reuniting with your beloved Eric, too.

ReplyDeleteMay Day was the day my dad died years ago so I'll always remember Flynn. Nothing will take the ache away right now but I pray your grieving journey is gentle. I haven't been able to be online as much or blog hop but your beautiful Friday posts of photos past are all the more meaningful and cherished now. Seeing the boys romp and enjoy adventures gave me much joy over the years and will again. When Merlin died, I couldn't bear to look at his photos for weeks but eventually I did and noticed things in the photos I hadn't seen before. As new edits happened, his memory grew stronger and the sadness eased. I wish the same for you. Big hug xoxox

Such a fighter, a man that always pulled through despite the odds. I knew in my head this day would come, but I hoped he'd just keep pulling through for more years.
