Confusion!

We don't know whether we are coming or going.

I'm totally confused.

To borrow an expression that Fin had entered into the cat vocabulary,
What The Floof!!!
We don't like word verification anyway and don't often comment on blogs which use it, but there are 3 or 4 that we have always commented on and don't want to stop. Today we tried to comment on one of them and it took 8 attempts at refreshing before we could make out what the floof it said. Looking carefully at the letters we can make them out, but now blogger has decided to put a photo of numbers in the verification as well. How are we supposed to read it? Is blogger trying to drive us away?
Please to those of you who use word verification, we can't speak for Wordpress etc. but blogger does do a good job of catching spam. Okay, it will get in your email notifications but it won't get published on your blog. We were getting a lot of spam comments recently (which weren't getting published) and changed our comment settings to not allow anonymous comments and that appears to have put a stop to it.
Right, we have finished our rant and mum can stop pulling her hair out.

  1. YES YES YES! Enough of us have banded together to where this isn't as horrible for us as before. I too have a terrible time with the word verification. That dim DIM picture of numbers is as bad as the obscured letters! I wish peopke could see how horrible it is. Maybe they would have mercy and take it off.

  2. I agree, that "new and improved" is terrible! We can hardly read them either. But your pics are great!

  3. I hope you find a way to get out of the confusion! You deserve to be at peace, guys.

Pet lovers please check out my homeless cat blog archives for some informative posts and archived stories about the cat abandoned/feral colony I manage.

  4. We love your pictures, Eric and Flynn! Except for the one of the evil "improved" word verification thing. ::shudders::

  5. Thisaway or thataway? Flynn looks like he's saying "Wot the hay?"

I agree with you about word verification. I'll never understand why they make it undecipherable.

  6. Yep, not a fan of the verification thingy... Sometimes, it's enough to make me not comment on a blog...but I've never gotten one that popped up as a picture!

  7. When I first started my blog last year, the best piece of advice I received was "Turn verification off!!"

  8. The "Prove your not a robot" thing is AWFUL, and quite frankly, we are less likely to leave comments at blogs that still demand that. On the other paw, we almost always get it right the first time. It DOES take some careful looking and the werds.

And you commented that you guys stretch up the counters to see what food is being prepared, while Ayla and Iza like ta wrassle at that time. Well I stretch up the counter walls like you guys do! And TBT lets me smell the bowls while I'm stretched up, before he sets them down. I LIKE that!

  9. We are glad you brought up this topic. This new and improved Verification is worse than ever! We hate to give up on the few that still have it, but it is so hard. May we borrow you words on this subject to send to those few that we run in to?

  10. Word verification needs the bitey put on it! Our Mommy loathes and despises it. Now, that being said, where were you kittehz in that first pic? We've never seen you in a place like that.

  11. You know what else? A few times, I just KNEW I got the Word Verification wrong... and they let it slide and added my comment anyhow. So it's really pretty useless.

  12. We agree with you - yesterday was the first time we came across the "new" number verification but it was so blurred mum couldn't even have a guess at what the number was! She can cope with the letters although sometimes they are so squashed together they are hard to decipher too.
BTW we love "your coming or going" picture - it fitted just right!

  13. We noticed that too and it drives our mom nuts. There are a lot of blogs we visit that still have word verification on (maybe they don't realize it) and it's annoying and time consuming, trying to leave just a few words. We've often thought of giving up.

BTW, we stopped allowing anonymous comments on our blog quite a long time ago and haven't had a problem with spam since. So it seems to work!

  14. I so agree its a flipping nuisance and gets in the way of visiting. I can see the confusion on your face MOl.. HUgs GJ xx

  15. Oh! Amen, sista! You're preachin' to the choir! I'm doing a post on this very thing today!

Have a lovely, un-Word Verification kinda day!

  16. I do agree. I do not have a blogger blog and I do have the word verification but if I don't have it, I get over 200 spam comments a day. It took me many hours to delete them. But it is a pain what Blogger has done. Have a great day.

  17. Oh, that makes MomBean say some amazing word combinations...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Well, Amen to that and thank you very much!!! The word verification is so ANNOYING... then, like you said, to combine it with a picture! Anyhow, I love the word Floof and hope you all have a great weekend!!

  19. The silly verifications are one of the reasons we have stopped blogging regularly. We were finding it too time consuming to visit our lovely friends. We miss you guys though. xx

  20. We noticed the pictures of the numbers today. We've been very lucky on our blog without having word verification. We've been very lucky the past four years and haven't had any spam to be posted in our comments. Blogger has done a great job with putting them in the spam folder. We still try to visit, but can't always make the time to comment with the word verification.

  21. excellent rant, lads, an' please let us know if any mass-pillow-pooping is organised to combat the perpetrators of this heinous situation. we will be PROUD to contribute!!

  22. We've been seeing this strange word verification too lately. We've learned that if you just come close, sometimes it will accept what you've typed. But it would be much easier if people just got rid of it.

  23. What the Floof?! We LOVE that!
We don't like Word Verification though and we have blogged about it too! Love to Eric and Flynn!

  24. OH BOY DO WE agree with you. That happened to me on a blog that I actually know they person. I finally asked her to turn off word verification. She had no idea it had changed and was so hard to read,

  25. We don't mind except when the number/letters are so small we need glasses!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I'm not even sure blogger makes you type the right thing...

  27. Looks like you each have a different direction covered so any introoder is in trouble.

we agree...the new verification is terrible, but mom has had no problems.
