Flynn: There are lots of mousie runs here and I have heard movement.
I'm going to get you mousie!
Told you so!
Eric: You aren't going to eat it are you? You know mum doesn't want you to.
Flynn: Grrrrrrr keep away from my mousie.
Eric Update:
The first day he had the high protein all natural wet food he ate it right up. Since then he has turned his nose up at it. I bought some high protein additive and gluten free dry food which he is eating. He seems to eat better every other day, not large amounts but at least he has not totally lost his appetite.
Someone said in a comment on his Easy Like Sunday post that he was holding his tail up better. I have to admit to the photo being 3 or 4 weeks old and taken before it got "the droop". It still droops at the end but has got no worse. He is as lively as usual, jumps on and off the bed with no problem and some mornings plays THoE with Flynn. It is a puzzle what is causing the muscle wastage.

Yum.....fresh mousie. We don't think our Mom would want us to eat it either.
ReplyDeleteWe're purring and praying for Eric. We sure hope he starts eating and improves soon.
The Florida Furkids
Taking away an honestly-caught mousie is No Fair! I am continuing to send purrs Eric's way - I hope the vet figures out what has been going on.
ReplyDeleteYour guys are super mousers!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mum for the update!
You boys are prize winning mousers, guess what just happened? My sister Boo had a lizard in her mouth. Yes one got indoors and she caught it. But Daddy made her give it up. So she didn't get to nom on it.
ReplyDeletePeeSss
ReplyDeleteThank you for the update on Eric and we are still purrin. WE want Eric to be completely back to his old self.
We are still puraying for yous Eric!
ReplyDeleteKisses
Nellie
PS Mousies is the PURFECT food for cats!
Come on Eric, you gotta do some mighty serious eating pal, you can have a mouse for dessert! We are all sending purrs and prayers to you. Great mousing!
ReplyDeleteHunting is a good sign but seeing a tail straight up would make us happy. Odin had a droopy tail recently and upon close examination found the source. It turned out to be a hotspot. It healed and the tail is up again. re: eating, as long as he's eating something is good. How is Flynn treating him?
ReplyDeletedon't feel bad, we wouldn't be allowed to eat that either....
ReplyDeletekeep eating buddy!!
I'm so happy you are eating and do thing as usual. Mom used to read some article about the muscle wastage. When you are a senior cat it happens, but as long as you don't have a problem with walking or when mom touch you butt you don't feel pain. It should be a good sign, Eric
ReplyDeleteFynn, I think first time you said you are going to get Eric a mousie ; ) I guess you change your mind.
Still purrs and Paws crossed for you Eric
((( Hugs )))
HURRAH for you, Flynn! xx Yr Sweet Pea
ReplyDeleteWe have paws crossed that Eric continues to improve...could he have had a small stroke that affected his hindquarters?
At least he felt well enough to go out and play for a while. Small steps ...
ReplyDeleteWe would think there can't be better foods for us kitties than mice. They are sort of here just for US, right?
ReplyDeleteWe are glad that he is mostly liking his food. I mean, after all we can't be too easy can we? We hope that he gets to feeling much much better soon. Purrs to him.
ReplyDeleteMousies on Mancat Monday? What could be better? We are still purring for you, Eric! XOXO
ReplyDeleteDid you eat the mousie? We have Eric in our prayers and send him mega purrs for him to keep feeling better and to keep his appetite up.
ReplyDeleteSweet Eric, we have EVERYTHING crossed that you feel way better immediately!!
ReplyDeleteApes just don't understand how good fresh mousie tastes. They are missing out on a treat.
ReplyDeleteEric, please eat your new grub. If you don't like that one, there are other high protein, no grain foods available in the UK now (your vet might have other ones to try too) We have one called Bozita, which we like sometimes. Our ape buys it online.
We hope you get that tail up soon!
Gerry & Mungo
We hope Eric's Vet will be able to find out what is causing his loss of appetite soon - although if he is eating better every other day at least he is getting nourishment. Glad to hear he is still jumping up and down off the bed.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
oh dear Eric I'm always thinking of you boy! Please be positive and keep eating okay!
ReplyDeleteEverything will be fine soon!I'm praying and sending purrs to you!
Luna - WE LOVE LUNA
Nothing quite like fresh mousie!!!
ReplyDeleteEric, we hope you start eating lots and get your strength back. Hugs and purrs xx
Fresh mousie snacks!
ReplyDeleteKeep eating the good stuff, Eric. Some of our seniors suffered from muscle wastage, and except for when it was accompanied by neuropathy with Louie's diabetes, our vet didn't have any real clue about it, either. Eric sounds like he's clear of that, so it sounds like one of those frustrating senior cat mysteries. We're purring for you, Eric.
Glad to hear that Eric is eating something because that will help keep his strength up. I am purring my loudest for my pal and mum says you are all in her thoughts xx
ReplyDeleteYour hunting skills always impresses us!!
ReplyDeleteWe're glad Eric is still eating some...and acting normal otherwise...we hope the vet can figure out what might be going on with the muscle wasting.
Hi there Eric and Flynn. We know what happens when you eat a mousie, it comes right back up. Eric, we sure hope you eat all that good food. We have all our paws crossed for you.
ReplyDeletepraying that you find an answer...I am glad he is eating...maybe his appetite will increase once he adjusts to the food? Hoping so!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Oh, sweet Eric we so hope you continue to eat and the extra protein will solve the problem. We are still praying for you sweet boy and hope to hear real soon you are back in good health and doing fantastic. Chasing those mousies is fun and you need to be doing really well so you can help sweet Flynn run them down. Hugs and nose kisses

What a good mouser you are Flynn. We don't like to eat the mouses. We just surround them and play with them until they expire from exhaustion. I guess that's not very nice, bur we are cats after all. Eric, we are glad that there are lots of things you can do, but you must eat…please! Purrs and hugs from the kitties at www.thecatonmyhead.com, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Josette
ReplyDeleteWhat a great outing for you two. That mousey mice doesn't stand a chance with you two on watch.
ReplyDeleteIt was mom who said Eric's tail looked good. Anyway we are glad it is no worse.

We are purring furry hard fur our furend the manly-mancat, Eric.
ReplyDeleteEats your fuds Eric!
We're still purring for Eric and keeping him in our thoughts. I'm sure your Vet would have to ok this...but Glogirly wanted me to tell you about some freeze dried sprinkles (mine are Chicken) that we got from a company called Cat Man Do. They are tiny little chunks of freeze dried chicken that can be sprinkled on top of wet or dry food. I really like them and something like this might make your food seem more appealing.
ReplyDeletexo, Katie
Mummy and I are so sorry that Eric has been poorly. We are purring and praying for him very hard.
