Dad puts his slippers in front of the wood burner so they are warm to put on. I like to put my toesies in them to keep warm.
I have been back to the vet and he scanned my liver. He said there were no lumps or bumps visible and I didn't have cirrhosis so he didn't steal more of my blood after all, so that is good news.
The muscle wastage is still a mystery especially as I am still jumping up and down without any problems. I have had an anabolic steroid injection to try and get my muscles to build back up. That lasts for up to a month. Mum has to ring him in three weeks with a progress report.
I have some tablets which #1 of The Poupounette very kindly sent to me to encourage my appetite.I am taking 1/4 daily with the approval of our vet.
Mum and dad weighed me tonight and I have put on 0.8lbs in 25 days so that is encouraging.
When I had my scan, the vet put smelly stuff on my side, and when I got home Flynn hissed at me and said I didn't smell right. He is friends with me again now though.

Eric, though we are sure you and your humans would like an answer, we are happy to hear there were no baddies in and around your liver. You know humans have muscle mass decline when they (the men) are low on testosterone, or just as they age, so maybe the steroids will help you out a bit. Audrey is very skinny from the waist backwards now too. Mom cannot tell what is going on with me under my floor but I am thin. I am a picky eater.
ReplyDeleteMom did read that hyperthyroidism doesn't always show up on the tests, so just keep that in mind.
Well we will sure take that kind of good news Eric! Keep eating my friend, tis most impawtant!
ReplyDeleteEric, that looks like the best place for your footies to keep warm. How thoughtful of your dad to leave them out for you!
ReplyDeleteGreat news, too. Keep up the improvement!

ReplyDeleteEric, we are glad your news is encouraging & we hope you continue to do well and put on weight. We are purring for you, big guy! Its funny how kitties hiss when one of the others doesn't smell right. When Julie came home from the beauty salon, Oui Oui had to give her a couple smacks to help her with that problem.
ReplyDeleteWe are glad that everything is going well Eric. We hope you continue to get better! Purrs.
ReplyDeleteEric, we here at the Very Best Cats are glad to hear you are showing signs of getting better. Keep eating some good food and your meds and build up your strength. We love you and want you to feel better and better. Sending our healing thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteEric, you is doing good! You gained almost a pound already. (The Human says that's no big deal--she can gain a pound in 25 MINUTES). We hope you gets a clean bill of health soon, Buddy! Sorry you got icky stuff smeared on you. On the upside: no bloods stolen!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are doing better, Eric, although having a mystery illness must be very frustrating! That is good news about your liver, though.

ReplyDeletePee ess: Jenna wants to know why your beds aren't in front of the wood burner?

ReplyDeleteYay for the weight gain, and that they didnt steal any more blood! I can imagine how frustrating it is to not know what's going on. At least you can still jump! That's awesome!
We are so pleased you have put on a little weight - maybe that injection will make you have muscles that all the lady cats will want to come over and see for themselves. Thank goodness your vet didn't steal any more blood.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

We're so glad to hear you're doing better and gaining weight. Keep on eating the good stuff and building yourself back up. A steroid ought to make you big and strong -- and encourage your appetite, too.
ReplyDeleteEric we think that that is great news! We are also thrilled that you are gaining weight! Keep it up pal! Also, we are happy that you and Flynn are friends again!
ReplyDeleteLove, cody and "mom"
What a great way to warm your toesies, Eric! And we're so glad to hear you have put some weight back on...and the liver tests came back good. You keep eating!
ReplyDeleteThat is such good news that they didn't find anything bad. Glad you got that steroid shot Eric. That will give you an appetite too. So get busy eating Eric. Take care.
ReplyDeleteWe're glad there's no problem with your liver, too, Eric, and that you've gained a bit of weight back.
ReplyDeleteHow old are you? We can't remember. Too young, presumably, for it to be natural muscle wastage due to aging.
Continued purrs!
We're so happy to hear that you've gained some weight and that your liver scan was good! We hope the new meds help you.
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids

We'll look at that as good news, Eric! Purrs and head bonks to you on eating!
ReplyDeleteWe like to read about you gaining weight, Eric. Keep eating! One of my little ones is losing weight but she has hyperthyroidism, and that makes her hungry much of the time, which isn't one your symptoms. I hope your people find out what's wrong with you soon. In the meantime, keep scarfing as much food as possible.
ReplyDeleteEric you keep eating young man! Tis good news so far! :)
ReplyDeleteWe are so relieved they did not find anything serious, sweet boy...Keep eating, Eric=we love you so much!!...We're glad you and Flynn are getting along again=vet smells are awful!!...Happy Tuesday, handsome friends...xoox...Calle, Halle, Sukki
ReplyDeleteIts such good news that your liver is ok. I know that your mum and dad are worried that the wastage is not explained and I hope the injection helps with that. The tablets helped me and I hope they do the same for you.. I am purring my loudest.. Hugs GJ xx
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear your update! We've been thinking about you and purrin' that things stay on the right track!
ReplyDeleteHarry, Dexter and Tipp
I think those are YOUR slipPURRS now, Eric! I'll bet Dad likes to keep his toesies warm, too, but you beat him to the punch.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear that there are no serious problems. It sounds like you'll be fine as long as you can keep your weight up.
I think it is fairly common for kitties of a certain age to have digestive problems. Domino's trouble was 'lack of stomach motility'. In other words the food would just sit in her tummy and not move along. She ended up throwing it up instead. She lost lots of weight and muscle tissue as a result.
However, with her high protein wet food diet, she is gaining nicely again.
We wish you the same, sweetie.
YAY for warm slippers and moore YAYYY for that the vet-check went well !!
ReplyDeleteEric, Setzer has hyperthyroidism, he has to take meds everyday. He still played before we knew he had it but he was loosing some weight and his fur was thinning. He started throwing up now and then, one morning he threw up 3 times so he was off to the Vets where they found out he had a hyper thyroid. We kitties can hide how bad we feel pretty good...Setzer had to go into a chamber that night, the vet called and said he may not make it but by morning he had a turn around.
ReplyDeleteWe are so glad your tests so far are looking good Eric, we are all sending continued purrz and prayers that you eat more and feel 100% healthy soon=^Y^=
WE are glad your liver is well. That smelly stuff really stinks. Did Mom wash it off for you?
ReplyDeleteWe think it is good news that the vet is so far finding nothing unusual is wrong. We do the hissy thing when ever one of us retruns from the vet too. Glad you made up.
ReplyDeleteYay for you Eric.
ReplyDeleteWE take all of that as very good news. And we were glad to hear about the wgt gain. WE hope that you return to your full healthy self very soon. WE still remember you in our purrs.
