I don't like to wear anything, not even a hat, but as it is straw hat day I made an exception. My tongue shows what I think about my hat though.
I had to go to the vet yesterday (Tuesday) morning and I have cystitis. I heard mum on the phone to the vet place saying I hadn't peed so I got in the litter box and did one quick. She still made me go though so I sang my warrior songs at the top of my voice all the way there and all the way back.
I got stabbed and the unmentionable happened when the vet crept up behind me. I have to have powder from a capsule sprinkled on my food twice a day too. The vet said it had been caught quickly so I hope I won't have to go back again. Mum and dad hope I don't have to either because they said they don't know if their ears will stand another return journey of warrior songs.

ReplyDeleteWell, bugger to the cystitis. srsly.
ReplyDeleteI now split a 3 oz can of wet foods (store quivalent of Fancy Feast) between the 3Gs and I add in an equal amount of water to each bowl. I feed them twice a day so I know for SURE that each one of them is drinking at LEAST 2 ounces of water per day.
This has helped Gandalf to stay crystal-free without having to throw tons of money at Rx food. This makes me happy, my bank account happy, Dr. Tad happy AND all of the Gs mouths and bladders are happy!!
I just hope it continues to be effective.

Humans's note: Derry has had a couple of bouts of idiopathic cystitis, stress-related. After what looked like another bout starting last October, I got him onto UTI-Free, which is a homeopathic remedy from PetAlive.com. I have a couple of bloggers in the US who kindly and graciously ship it to me (I buy it, send it to them, they resend to me) to avoid the ridiculously high shipping charges into Canada.
The product is granules that are supposed to be sprinkled into the mouth, but hello? two hands here, not exactly doable for me. So I sprinkle (it's just a pinch) it into Derry's canned food. Knock on wood and fingers (and paws) crossed, he's not had another bout since I started. Now of course that could change, and I just take it one day at a time, but I give that particular product 5 out of 5 stars. And nope, I don't get any compensation for recommending it.

ReplyDeleteMy daughter's oldest cat, Cabernet, was diagnosed with crystals in his urine in 2003 (I know it's not quite the same as what you're dealing with), and with lots of care, especially making sure he gets enough water each day, he's going strong at age 16! We know you can do it, too!!

Good thing they caught it early! We hope it never bothers you again. What is it about the singing that seems to bother the people so much? We've noticed that too, when they've taken any of us to the stabby place.
ReplyDeleteLet us know dearest Flynn. YOu do look very fetching in your straw hat however..thank you for wearing it for a moment.
