Eric always would like to help in the garden, be it digging holes to plant the flowers....

or rolling the soil level,

 and checking the bird seed containers had been filled.

Checking to see if the hanging baskets needed watering.

and even checking the hole in the concrete to make sure no worms had fallen in. He was always willing to help with whatever job needed doing.
