We dunno...have you SEEN The Baby after a dirt bath? She turned PINK once after rolling in the red dirt in our yard.
Oh my goodness that would have scared me! I think he is kind of cute though. :)
Can Dougal reach around with his tongue to groom himself? Maybe he needs you to show him how it's done.
Has Dougal be hanging out in a big puddle somewhere? If it is as hot there as it is here, that would start to sound like a relly good idea.
Maybe you could ride him to the horse wash Flynn!

Not all creatures can be as pristine as us kitties!
Dougal must not be a self-respecting horsie. Plus, they depend on a bean to help make them clean.

Oh Dougal, you sure are on top of your world. Flynn, horses love to roll in the dusty dirt......seems to us we have also seen a couple of orange and white brothers dust rolling too!

We think Dougal saw you rolling in the dirt and it looks so refreshing, he decided to do it too. Boy, look at the feets on that dude!
Dougal is a beautiful critter...mom and I must admit we aren't sure the if he is a horse or a mule as he is must unusual looking!!

It does look like Dougal might have treated himself to a roll on the ground and had a dust bath - but you are right, Flynn, he needs a proper bath now.

Poor Dougal. He can't get himself into the positions we cats can so self grooming is a bit of a problem for him.
We know you'd love to help him but you would wear your tongue down to nothing before you finished even a quarter of him!

We've never seen one of those in the flesh before. It looks pretty big and scary. There's supposed to be a pony buried in our back yard, but he's been there about 100 years, so we're not scared of him. Dirty Dougal, hahameow! Teri had a friend who was a blacksmith and he had a calico cat in his shop and while he was always black and sooty, she somehow kept herself groomed to purrfection!.
