Look......

I told you I would be catching mice again.

Silly mousie didn't want to play though and went deaded right away.

Health Update.
I have been off all medication for a month now. I feel much better in myself and am much livelier. I am eating better most of the time although I still have days when I don't want to eat. I am still losing weight though so now it is time for me to go back on thyroid pills.
My vet said that the month with no medication should have given my body time to recover enough. I originally was taking Carbimazole but will go on Felimazole which is basically the same as Methimazole. I can go on a much lower dose of that. I should take them one twice a day but mum asked if I could start on one daily in case I can't tolerate these either. My vet agreed, so for the first week that is what will happen. If all goes well I will go on the proper dose from the second week.
Please keep your paws crossed for me that everything goes well this time.

  4. You've definitely got your mojo back. Brilliant. We agree that easing into the thyroid med is good idea given what happened before. We sure hope all goes well and that you gain a little weight.

  12. Flynn, good for you with that mouse.

Regarding the felimazole, for how long it lasts in the bloodstream, it may be better to have lag a tablet twice a day rather than one once a day.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Sorry, we meant to say half a tablet twice a day, not "lag".

  14. Sweet Flynn, well done, mighty Nimrod! It's good to see you feeling better. You and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers as you ease into a new meds schedule. We've had excellent results with the methimazole in liquid form, coupled with the Science Diet in canned form.

  24. So happy that you're hunting again Flynn! I think that mousie was so surprised to see you he just died! I'm hoping your new meds will do the trick without causing all that horrible side effect your old medicine did. 27. We absolutely are crossing our paws and purring like mad for you, Flynn. We hope the new med does the trick. If once a day isn't enough, your mum always could split the dose - maybe? Half in the AM, half in the PM? Or check if the med can be made into the transdermel gel, as that won't upset your system.

    Purrs and peace.

  28. Good luck, Flynn. I hope you can find a balance in what keeps your thyroid levels right and what allows you to feel good. It's tricky, but you have your mum and dad and a good vet watching out for you.
