Sunday Selfie and Update.
I have been eating a bit better the last couple of days so I thought I would join the Kitties Blue with my selfie this week.
You can see all the other selfies at The Cat on my Head.
Also, mum has scanned all my snail mail Christmas cards for me and you can see them on my Christmas card page. There is also a separate page with my Christmas e-cards on.
I have to go to the vet early on Monday morning for another blood test. This is to see what my T4 reading is now I have been off thyroid meds for two weeks. If it is only slightly raised I may not go back on them. The pills I was taking were Vidalta (Carbimazole). If I have to go back on meds it will be Felimazole which can be given at a lower dose. Those pills can have the same side effects as the Vidalta so mum and dad are hoping my thyroid level is only slightly raised and I can manage without them. If I do have to take them, I will be watched very carefully.
I have been doing black tarry poops which means there is probably digested blood in them. My vet wants to see if they settle down on their own as I have been off the Zantac injections for a few days and haven't even needed an appetite pill for a week. I am very glad to not have the injections twice a day and pills shoved down my throat. I am just having a B12 injection once a week.
Today my poops have turned to dark brown so hopefully that is an improvement.
I have been for a couple of short walks during the week. I haven't been able to go out for the last two days though because it is very windy. Mum says I am so light now that I might blow away like a leaf, and I don't want to do that!

Flynn, I will purr for a good visit at the Vet's on Monday, and fewer meds rather than more. I am glad you are eating without appetite meds.
ReplyDeleteOh Flynn I love your selfie. I am so glad you are a little better and I hope you have good news at the vets on Monday.
ReplyDeleteRosezeeta
Oh yes Flynn, let's have a good vet visit and get some more good news. We are so happy, happy, happy that you are eating. Your selfie is terrific!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the selfie and the update, Flynn. You and your folks will be in my thoughts and prayers Monday. It's good that you're eating more. AD is just one of many yummy canned foods to make up your menu -- my kits like the KD, too. Don't forget to ask the vet if you would benefit from drinking spring water.
ReplyDeleteWe're glad you are eating more. That's a good sign. Of course we continue to purray for you and your family. Pawhugs.
ReplyDeleteWe loves your orange and white sweetness and are happurry to hear you felt like going for a stroll, too! We hopes the test results, and your appetite, continue to be good!
ReplyDeleteDo I see a stink eye? I hope that’s not for me! I’m glad you’re feeling better and purray that you can go without the eds. Sending healing purrz and kisses.
ReplyDeleteFlynn, we hope SO MUCH that you have turned the corner towards good health again! Paws crossed for good T4 numbers, and plain brown poop!
ReplyDeletePaws crossed that you don't need the thyroid meds, Flynn! It sounds like you are doing a lot better!
ReplyDeleteWe'll keep our paws crossed for your vet appt, sweet Flynn.
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see you on this Sunday Selfie!
XOXOXO
Awww you are so lucky having a poop inspector. Hope you feel better soon Flynnie boy.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are making slow & steady progress which is what we like to see. You take a great selfie Flynn. We will cross our tails & tootsies that your labs on Monday have you taking fewer meds. & that your improved appetite will make your poop a healthy color.as you continue to recover your health. If Mom & Dad are worried that you might blow away in the wind, maybe they could dress you in a little jacket & fill the pockets with a few stones to keep you Earthbound while exploring the fields Flynn.
ReplyDeleteA most handsome selfie. We are pleased with your progress report and have paws crossed for the vet visit tomorrow. Go dude!
ReplyDeleteSendin purrs!
ReplyDeletePleased to read your progress report Flynn...x
ReplyDeleteAnd, at least things are going in the right
direction...Be brave, take your medicine,
and, with Spring just around the corner, you'll
be right as reign again...Watch out birdies! :)
Bless!x
We love your selfie. We're glad you are eating and that things seem to be improving. It would be great if your blood work shows that you can stay off the meds.
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
Beautiful selfie ! You got pawsome cards, we enjoyed watching them. We hope every thing goes well at the vet ! Purrs
ReplyDeleteFlynn, we're glad to read an update! We're sure someone (at least one probably more than one) has mentioned this, but if the meds were causing the inner upset, why can't they be compounded into a transdermal gel and applied into your inner ear tip? That's what our human had done for Annie, who had hyper-t.
ReplyDeletePaws crossed for the vet check and continued purrs and purrayers.
Flynn that is a beautiful soulful selfie and the girls here all wish you good luck with your meds and hope you feel better much sooner! loves Fozziemum and gang xxx
ReplyDeleteWe will be purring for your Vet visit to go well on Monday Flynn and by the way we love your selfie today.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Such good news, Eric! Purrs and prayers from us in the frozen tundra of rural Michigan.
ReplyDeleteSo very sorry I miss Eric, too and I should have called you Flynn! It's very early here in Michigan!
DeleteHi my good friend! It's great to see you in your selfie! I hope the vet says your T4 is low enough that you won't have to have more meds but maybe the different one won't effect you so badly. I'm happy you're eating and your poop isn't icky.....and I'm hoping you can get some of your weight back. My paws are ALWAYS crossed for you but especially after you were so very very sick these past weeks!! Sending you all my spare energy........and don't you DARE blow away in the wind......
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sammy
Sending ongoing PURRS. We might not visit your blog often but we do think about you often. Stay well sweet boy. xx
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling better and that the poop today was brown instead of black. I hope you won't need the thyroid meds or injections. Good idea to stay inside, we don't want you to blow away. We will keep praying and purring for the good health to continue.
ReplyDeleteFlynn wonderful to see you my friend! Glad you are eating more on your own. Hopefully your poos will keep improving on their own. Paws crossed and POTP still going strong here for a good vet visit tomorrow.

So glad to read about your poops turning from black to brown :) :) We know that's an important improvement, and you've really come back from a bad situation. Also glad the wind stopped so you can go outside because we know how the smell of fresh air and other animals and mud under the paws and sun on your furs makes you feel like a new cat when you don't feel well.
ReplyDeleteOur fur sister Cookie developed hyperthyroid disease when she was 19 and had a huge sensitivity to the medication--we use methimazole over here, which we think is the same as your Felimazole. Our vet always starts kitties on a tiny dose in case of sensitivity, and Cookie had to stay on a tiny dose, which helped her thyroid.
Now eat up, big boy, put that weight back on!
Glad to hear you are eating better and hope it goes well at the vet. Purrs, Rhette
ReplyDeleteWonderful selfie, Flynn! We are glad to hear that you are improving. We hope your vet visit tomorrow goes well, and we will continue purring and praying!

ReplyDeleteHave you tried the prescription thyroid food? It is Hill's y/d. I don't know a lot about it, but it may be an alternative to medication for Flynn.
::hugs:: and purrs <3

ReplyDeleteFlynn, we hope your results are positive and hope you can come off the tablets. Too right about going in the wind, I reckon Mum won't want a kitty kite will she ;-)
ReplyDeleteI'm late leaving a comment, I just dropped by your Eric page, his memorial. How lovely it is, and how you must miss him. Flynn c'mon now we need your ginger face, and your ginger spirit here RIGHT NOW!
ReplyDeleteWe don't know where our comment went! You look absolutely marvelous, sweetheart! We've been praying our hardest for you and are thankful to know you are starting to feel better. Pills are such odd things. They can make us feel better or make us very sick. The Felimazole's smaller mg.dose may help to keep your dosing more exact. You are a part of our family and we love you so much. Wishing we could hold in our arms......
ReplyDeleteI'm still making the rounds and catching up from Saturday! Hope your vet visit went well yesterday!
