This week the flashback comes from February 2010 and is when we took part in the
Cat-O-Lympics.
Today is the last event that we are competing in. We would have liked to take part in the bare paw fighting too, but if we are honest, it's very rare for us to fight. We have a bit of a rassle now and again, but we prefer snuggling to fighting.
This is the Bird and Squirrel Watching discipline hosted by the Furry Bambinos.
Eric: I am taking part in the squirrel watching. The squirrel has just arrived on the hedge to eat the seeds the birds have dropped from the feeders. I am on the cat tree and keep my head and body low. You can see him beside my right ear.
I slowly lift my head for a better view. He hasn't seen me.
Success! A second one arrives.
He still doesn't see me watching and sits eating the seeds. He is lucky Flynn is asleep because he isn't a watcher like me. He would be out of the door and chase him up the tree.
Flynn: I am taking part in the bird watching. This is a pheasant which is a very big bird, almost as big as me. As he is on our property, rather than watch him, I am escorting him off the premises.

Oh Eric you really excelled at that part of the competition. Please remind us if you medaled!
ReplyDeleteThat is always one of our favorite events!
ReplyDeleteEric, you really were a champion squirrel watcher!
ReplyDeleteEric, what a WATCHER! That was as expert as I could ever hope to see. Flynn, my romantic Ginger fluff boy...you escorted him in a grand manner as befitted the pheasant's dignity!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Good thing you were inside. Did you ever catch a squirrel? They are very fast and Odin has only caught one or two in five years.
ReplyDeleteLove how you escorted that pheasant! We used to have those here, but now the area is more built up so they have gone elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteThis one made me smile with the memories!
ReplyDeleteOh, beautiful, patient Eric!! I know I said it before, but I love your flashback posts. <3
