Eric's Day Flashback - The Visitor

I am sorry I haven't been visiting lately. Our internet is being terrible, far more off than on. We change providers on July 15th so hopefully things will get back to normal or better than normal. Our flashbacks are scheduled about 6 weeks at a time so will still be here. I will visit as and when I can in the meantime.

Warning to the Trout Town Tabbies! Don't read any further!!!

This week the flashback comes from July 2010 and is called:

The Visitor.

Flynn: Hey what are you doing here? This is my sunbathing spot.

You're supposed to be afraid of me, why aren't you flying away?

You do realise I could have you for my supper don't you.

Hmphh, if you are going to ignore me, I will turn my back on you too.

Oh good, mum's fattening him up for us.

Eric: If I watch him from behind this wire mesh he won't be able to see me.

He has come closer, do I dare pounce with mum watching me?

Huh! The cheek of it. He is drinking our rain water now.

Note from mum:
We had heavy rain and very strong wind the night before these photos were taken. The pigeon is a ringed homing pigeon and was probably exhausted from the bad weather. He was looking very sorry for himself and let me catch him. His ring had this year's date on it so this is probably his first year of racing. The boys were very interested but couldn't understand why he wouldn't fly. wThat is most likely what saved him as there is no point in catching something that just sits and looks at you. He is now looking much better and flying as soon as I or Eric and Flynn approach and should very soon fly back to his own loft.

  7. That is so great that the cats didn't go after the bird. Hope he made it back to his home. Glad you gave his seed and thanks Eric and Flynn for not going after the bird..

  8. that is a sweet story. I had to laugh at "why catch something that sits there and looks at you" (I didn't quote exactly, but I loved that!) catchatwithcarenandcody

  9. Great photos of Eric turning his back to it and "hiding" behind the fence. That is good that he didn't try to get it.

  12. I'm glad it was just the internet. I thought something worse was going on...

And I'm also glad the boys didn't do anything to the pigeon. That wouldn't have been sporting. The poor bird must have been scared to death to have Flynn so close! That first picture makes it look like the two of them are on the ledge of a skyscraper.

  14. Hope that internet fixed your spotty internet service - we miss you!! As for that pigeon flashback....it's no fun catching a TIRED pigeon so it was good of you to leave it alone and let it rest up....there will be other opportunities more challenging I'm sure!

    Love, Sammy

  17. You two are so kind, Angel Eric and Flynn, for not harming the pigeon. That pigeon looked very scared, not because of you, but of the circumstances :D Pawkisses for a Happy Weekend and Good LUck with the new provider :) <3

  21. The behavior doesn't surprise me at all. I've read cats are attracted to movement. They especially go for small active birds like finches.
