Eric and Flynn were always very good hunters. The following photos show their prey and although I don't want to upset people with photos of dead bodies, it was a big part of their life.
Flynn normally didn't catch birds, he left that to Eric.
Eric always made sure he ended up with them though.
He always knew when they were hiding in the hedge.
Sometimes they were too ambitious.
They knew when it was better to just watch.
This is one of my favourite photos of Flynn in mid pounce.
It was very rare for a mouse to get away from him.
Sometimes he would eat it.....
but more often gave it to Eric.
Eric also was capable of catching his own mice, although he always appreciated it when Flynn presented him with one.
He was never one to turn down a free meal.
Bunnies were also a welcome visitor for Eric. (Sorry Speedy)
Also where Flynn was concerned, a squirrel had a one way ticket if it came into the garden.
Moles were also kept under control.
The wildlife here must be thanking their lucky stars now they don't have to watch out for the Mighty Hunters.
They were two mighty hunters! Well done boys!
ReplyDeleteOMC ! Eric, you were a champion !
ReplyDeleteMe used to hunt da birdy too when I were in Australia. In Bangkok, in some how I don't do birdies, but something else like lizards, mousie, and some big bugs.
I hope your mom and dad have a good day!
=^x^-
They were both great hunters. Squirrels are really tough to get, that is impressive. I love that shot of Flynn mid pounce too. XO
ReplyDeleteI always admired those hunting skills and the purrfect pounces too!
ReplyDeleteThey truly were amazing hunters.
ReplyDeleteWow! They really had amazing hunting skills!
ReplyDeleteWe have to say we were always impressed with Eric and Flynn's hunting skills.
ReplyDeleteSuch skill! Why, I think you must have caught more bigger varmints than dog-guy! though he has gotten a coon and some groundhogs...yup, and bunnies. No squirrels though.
ReplyDeleteThey were indeed superb hunters. Though it's sad to see animals die, it is part of nature, especially on a farm. Certainly, the boys were quick when they despatched their prey.
ReplyDeleteMasterful hunters and such style leaping like a ballet dancer!
ReplyDeleteEric and Flynn were SUCH impressive hunters! And how cool was it that they would share their catch with each other.
ReplyDeleteWow! Great work!! We're very impressed!
ReplyDeleteOh! My! Goodness! What a pair of hunters...
ReplyDeleteAnd rabbits and squirrels to...Squirrels

ReplyDeleteWhat hunters those boys were!
ReplyDeleteThe boys were certainly great hunters but they were also so beautiful to see as they went about their hunt.
ReplyDeleteThe ginger and white furs , seeing the patterns change with different angles has always been something we've so enjoyed. And there was always a hearty laugh knowing dear Eric would always be willing to nom the catches.
Natural toys. Yes, the mid-pounce shot is great!
ReplyDeleteI'm deep impressed... and I love this photo too... it's so full of energy and it is "the" moment you caught with your cam... oh how I wish I will become such a mighty hunter like you ...
ReplyDeleteThose boys were the undisputed champion hunters of the blogosphere!! Love those shots, especially the mid pounce one!! ❤️
ReplyDeleteYour two handsome Devons always amazed us with their skills

Good hunting, mum could use you to keep the skwerls away from the bird feeders.
ReplyDeleteWe'd all emulate the boys if we went out. It's what cats are supposed to do!
ReplyDeleteBoy, my old great great great great great great great great grannie Robin was a hunter without peer! The boys would have loved to have had her along as she caught all of the above and more. Just like the boys! She was indoor outdoor and man, when she went out in the day, she was BIZZY!

That is just nature, that kitties go after other animals. It is sad, but that is just how nature works. Great pictures of you Eric and Flynn catching everything. We all miss you too.

It sure never bothers US to see a cat with prey. And it never bothers TBT. He says there are too many mousies, voles, and sparrows in the world as it is. We allus get PRAISED when he sees us with one. He says and we agree that hunting is something that kept us all (relatively) normal and happy!
ReplyDeleteAnd We and He allus enjoyed seeing Eric and Flynn catching them too. It made US happy and we know it made THEM happy.
We still have never caught a skwerl though... Our gray ones are a bit larger and faster than your red ones.
It's good to learn those pills are doing their job! And thanks for sharing these photos of the boys doing the job of vermin control that cats have been doing for us since we all moved into a hut together with the mice. That pix of the boys reconsidering the attack on the Muscovy duck gave me a giggle for the morning: cats make that mistake only once, and everyone hears about it!
