Caturday Art - Tired of Waiting.

I am joining Athena the Cat Goddess for Caturday Art again this week.

I had a few pictures ready for Caturday Art, but after a major freeze on my computer, and then having to force it into shutdown when it had stayed like that for a few hours, it refused to reboot properly. I know you should never force a shutdown but I couldn't find any other way to do it.
I tried everything but nothing worked. In the end I attempted to save all my files to discs so I could re-install Windows to factory condition.
After 5 discs I thought it was looking a bit familiar, so watched one downloading right through, and sure enough, each disc was downloading the same files instead of continuing on.

I have all of my photos and important documents (except for January, which may be on my internet security back up) saved on my external hard drive so decided risking a reinstall without backing up first.

It seems to have worked although I have lost some very recent photos and documents including all of my Caturday Art ones.
It is the first time I have done anything major on the computer and took about 7 hours, so I am feeling quite pleased with myself that I have got it running again.

This is the original and was taken in 2008. Both boys liked to join me at the computer and would often be there waiting for me.

As usual I have used Lunapic. I started with Landscape at 50% then added Illusion at 50% followed by Sunshine at 20%.
I didn't really like it, but didn't want to just delete it so....

I added Floating at 25% which toned it down a little and gave it a 3D bricks border at 30 width. I am still not sure that I like it. I should probably have scrapped it and started over.

I prefer more toned down colours so was more pleased with this one. I used Lunapic again and added Psychedelic at 55%, then Quirky at 45%, then Scribble at 45% to tone the colour down a bit and finished with a canvas border at 60 width.

  3. Those pics are great and we love the description as it gives Ă„iti ideas.
And don't get her started about backups and computers......All our stuff is on hard drive as well as the best photos on a google drive now, but it's huge! However, it is probably as safe as it can be.

  4. I like the art today! Bummer about the computer - it could have been worse, but it's still sad that you lost some files.

  5. Bravo to you for being brave enough to try everything you could think of to get the computer "back" - apparently it worked so you are now an official computer EXPERT! Kinda scary though isn't it! We agree about the photos of the boys- that last one is the bestest next to the original. Nice to have had two computer companions - I try to keep my Mom company too (if I'm not busy elsewhere in the house that is!).

    Love, Teddy

  15. Oh man...not a lot worse in homes than the computer to show its stripes! I hated it when that happened! I used to have a buncha sons to help out but no more. However, my MAC's that I have had for about 10 years are erving me well. So far! :-)

And boys, you look like a million no matter what!

  16. I think the last one is the most successful, at least that's the one I like the best. I like to use photos with lots going on in the backgrounds, like this one, as I think you get a more arty effect. That sounds like a huge project with the computer. They are both a blessing and a curse. So happy you didn't lose too much. Sending lots of love and prayers. 18. Beautiful memories of The Boys, as usual.
Hope you can get your files back, but good for you for doing something. I have a laptop, so when it freezes you can force shutdown by disconnecting power and removing the battery . Then you can restart with no harm.

  30. Yes, sometimes you have to 'force quit' a computer. I must do it to mine at work all the time - though my boss says there is nothing wrong with it.

The first image of the photograph looks very fiery, a rather 1970s look with reddish browns everywhere.

  32. We so love seeing these photos. They're all brand new to us so we're getting to know angels Flynn and Eric.

  33. The last set of effects are my favorite! Bear's been known to wait for me - in the same position as Eric is. I always figure he watches me bustling about and thinks, "I'm waiting for you to sit down ... hurry up with your business and come pet me!" I hate computer issues - I'm not very good at that kind of thing.

  34. When stuff goes wrong with the computer it terrifies me on account of Peep #1 bein' my tech support and her not knowin' what the heck she is doin'. MOUSES!
