Friday Flashback and Caturday Art.

I thought there wasn't going to be a flashback this week. This morning there was no internet and apparently it had been down since 1am. It came back around 8 pm this evening so now I am able to get the post ready for tomorrow.

If I hadn't been able to do it, it would have been the first Friday I had missed since Eric left us in 2013.

Obviously I haven't been able to do any commenting on Thursday, but I may be able to catch up on a few during Friday.

This week Eric has the main post and it comes from August 2008.

My Scruffy Rat!

When we were kittens, one of our very first toys was a black rat. I told Flynn it was mine, and it was and still is my most favourite toy in the whole world. I call him Scruffy Rat, but I don't think mum knows his name because she calls him Fred Bear. Silly mum, surely she can see he's not a bear.

I like to chew him and bunnykick him. It's lots of fun.

He doesn't look much like a rat any more. Most of his black furrs have gone, and one ear and both eyes, and all his stuffing is coming out, but I still love him. Mum bought some new black mousies that looked like Scruffy when he was new, but they aren't my Scruffy Rat and no way am I going to play with them.

And a one photo post for Flynn from January 2009.
My Box.

I found the box, that means it's mine, and Eric wouldn't fit anyway.

I am joining Athena, the Cat Goddess for Caturday Art.

I used Monet at 70% for Eric.

Flynn,  Abstract at 50 %. All a bit rushed so no trying different filters together this week.

  2. I always tune in on Fridays to see what memories are on offer on. And Eric's Scruffy Rat was always his favourite, no matter how scruffy or ratty. Nothing could take the place of it, that's for sure.

  3. I can understand your love for your Scruffy Rat, Eric. We all have our favorite old toys, that no matter how scruffy they get, we cherish them. And new ones that look like the original just won't do. Boxes are fun, aren't they, Flynn? Mom's catwork is nice - and glad the internet came back up in the nick of time! A Friday without Eric and Flynn flashbacks would be an empty Friday for sure. Hope Mom and Dad are doing well. Until next time...Jean

  4. Sometimes there's that one special toy, and nothing ever matches it.

  5. What a fun flashback! Scruffy rat sure was well loved.

  6. Some toys just capture a cat's imagination and are well played with, while others are ignored and stay like new forever!

  11. Scruffy Rat certainly survived a lot of your "love!" :-D

We're glad your internet wasn't out TOO long--it's weird how we're so dependent on it now, given how short a time in human history we've had it. Kind of scary too, how reliant we are on technology.

  12. Thank goodness your Friday Flashbacks are ok.
One thing about the interwebs you can depend on is they are not always dependable...and so random with it quirkiness

  13. Glad you got our Internet back. I hate it when it's down.

I love your flashbacks. They always make me smile.

  14. I don't think I have thanked you for coming by to leave your condolences regarding Minuet's passing. I am grateful for your comments all the time, but especially so in this case. Our furry family members are always missed, aren't they? Always.

  16. Love these shots of Eric with his rat, so sweet. And Flynn was such a cutie too. They both remind me so much of my angel Sammy. Beautiful art. Thank you for the puzzle. XO

  17. We lost power after a severe storm earlier this week, but regained it after one day.
However, our wifi didn't come back until today...it was heck!
Lovely art, for lovely angel boys.
    Off to puzzle; thank you.

  18. I love your Scruffy Rat. I hope your mum kept it and it's in the Eric shrine. TW still has Chizzy and Autumn's fave toys and I have Nicky's pink perch. I'm not allowed to play with their fave toys tho.
BTW, The Hippies aren't BBQ Bob. He's still here.

  19. Eric and his Scruffy Rat are a great subject for a Monet. I'm sure Scruffy is still moaning that Eric is making him even scruffier. Love the close-up of the rat, by the way.

Flynn in his chosen box is adorable and stands up to life in the Abstract very well.

Your art is timeless, just like your boy kitties.

That rat looks like he was a lot of fun!

  21. Glad your internet returned so the flashback could be posted. It seems like every cat has their favorite toy and the love they have for it is evident from the condition it ends up in. Lol. I like the cat art and the puzzles. Thanks! :-)

  23. Angel Eric's rat is scruffy, for sure. We loved seeing him biting and chewing on it. We call that "well-loved" around here. :)

And Angel Flynn sure looks handsome and cute in that box,

  24. We can see why Eric loves his scruffy Rat - and Flynn so enjoyed his box. No toy can beat simple toys or Old Favourites, can they?

  25. Eric had a really fun rat, so much so that there wasn't much left of him in the end! That was a lovely box for Flynn too!

  26. There's nothing better than a favourite toy, Basil's was called Mr Wibble, it was a blue octopus, and funnily enough the P.A. found it the other week and did some sewing repairs on him!

Supurr flashback and arty effects today guys, and what a great box Flynn!
