We are giving up our blog today to let mum post some of the pictures from their short break on Exmoor last week.
This is the River Lyn which runs from the high ground of Exmoor down to the sea at Lynmouth.
This is the water powered funicular cliff railway that goes up the very steep cliff from Lynmouth to Lynton. It was built in 1890.
The views are beautiful from up there.
There were flowers all the way along the walls from the railway to the town.
Going back down with the other carriage on it's way up. You can see how steep it is.
Back down in Lynmouth harbour.
There are lots of lovely old pubs , houses and cafes.
Leaving Lynmouth we headed into the Valley of the Rocks where the goats run freely. They seemed to be hiding that day though.
Then we took the private coastal toll road which runs along the edge of the cliffs.
Hopefully I will be allowed to post the rest of the photos soon.
A quick update about myself. I am doing very well. I went back to the hospital two weeks ago for a check up and the infection had gone at last and the wound is now healed. I am doing most things I did before but no heavy lifting yet, and the boys are getting me walking further and further, although I still have a bit of trouble with a painful pulling feeling going up and down hill. Thank you to everyone for thinking of me.

Your photos of Exmoor are so lovely to see - I remember the first time I drove through the great Valley of the Rocks - it was awesome. And the goats were there too! And riding my motorbike up Porlock HIll - not good for someone with vertigo. Sometimes I do miss bits England :)
