Keeping hydrated. |
My pee sample was mostly good as well and the amazing thing is that there is no blood in it. That is the first time it has been clear since the first time I went to the vet to find out why I was losing weight about 6 months ago. Two lots of antibiotics hadn't got rid of it and the peeps had said no more antibiotics, we would just take a chance on what was causing it as I was feeling so ill after them. We don't know why it suddenly disappeared but we are very glad it did.
The bad part of the pee sample is that the PH is very high. I drink a lot and always have done, and I pee well too without any problems. Mum will keep a close eye on me to make sure that I keep peeing well.
My vet rang today with my T4 result which we had been hoping would be borderline so I could stay off thyroid pills. It was high!
When I first went on the pills my level was 55 and with the pills it got down to 22 which is right in the middle of where it should be. Now it has gone up to 110. I will stay off pills for just under another 2 weeks to give me a bit longer to recover from the bad effects I suffered from the Carbimazole. When I have had a month rest from them I will go on a low dose of Felimazole which I will have twice a day. Mum and dad will be watching me like a hawk and the first sign of any bad reactions and they will be stopped immediately.
When the vet saw me on Monday he said that apart from being so thin, I looked much better in myself. He said that 2 weeks before I had looked like an old cat who had given up on life and just laid on the examination table with no interest in anything.
I don't give up without a fight. Those mousies will be waiting in the fields for me so I have to keep getting better to sort them out.
You Keep fighting Flynn. We love Ya.
ReplyDeletePURRS,
Genghjs
Prayers,
Penny
We'll keep purring for you, Flynn. Hang in there, buddy. You can do this!
ReplyDeleteThanks to your Mum for the update.
XOXO
Purring for him to tolerate the felimazole. Getting that T4 down will help with the weight. Audrey put on lots of weight once her T4 was down. We actually gave Audrey human methimazole.
ReplyDeleteAlso, once Audrey's thyroid normalized, her poops became normal, whereas before they had been only semi formed.
Flynn we are purring very hard for you to tolerate those meds.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is praying for you Flynn. I am glad you had some good news. Is there any vet willing to get that special license to get the gel form of your medicine?
ReplyDeleteFlynn, it's a pretty good update. We hope you'll tolerate the other hyper-t med better. We're not sure if methimazole is the same as your old med or is the same as your new one or a different one altogether (the med Annie was on). Anyway, lots of purrs and good luck. We're glad you're looking and feeling better!
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better soon buddy. Angel Fin was on the new medicine and tolerated it well.
ReplyDeleteWe are pretty happy with your news. For the most part it is positive.
ReplyDeleteWe will purr that you keep feeling well and do well on the lower dose.
Now, go get those mousies!
Purrs Georgia and Julie,
Treasure and JJ
Oh yes, those mousies must be kept in line - so keep improving so you can get back out there as soon as possible!
ReplyDeleteGood new and bad news.... Glad you're looking better to the vet and wishing the T4 were much much lower. Hope resting from the meds a bit longer gets you more back to yourself but eventually you'll have to try them again. Hope you tolerate the felimazole better than the last bit. Paws, whiskers and eyes crossed!
ReplyDeleteLizzie, Max & Tuck
We're siding with the vet about the positive side! And sending loads of love and purrs which most healing.
ReplyDeleteWe're purring for you to get those numbers just right. The carbamazole/methimazole family of medications seems to be rough on cats who are allergic, so we're glad it's clearing your system and purring that the felimazole is going to be just right.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Flynn! Fight the good fight!! We are keeping up the purrs for you from Norf Carolina.
ReplyDeleteLove & hugs & purrs,
Buddy, Princess Jazzy & Cuzzin Cavalli
Sweet Flynn, it's good that your vet factors in your emotional state as well as those pesky T4 numbers. Your willingness to cooperate with your family's and his efforts to help you heal is essential. Good lad! Keep experimenting with your menu and drink lots of fresh water!
ReplyDeleteWe too are happy for lots of good things for you Flynn. That darn pesky T4. We love you Flynn and we will be right here cheering you on pal. We are thrilled you are such a good boy with your meds.
ReplyDeleteSendin ya purrs buddy.
ReplyDeleteI think that all sounds pretty good, Flynn. I hope the T4 numbers will stabilize in the next weeks so you don't have to take any more of those icky pills.
ReplyDeleteWe're purring for you Flynn! We hope your numbers get to where they need to be. Hang in there, handsome.
ReplyDeletexo
You keep fighting that fight, dear Flynn. We love you, and will keep right on purring and praying for you. Let's hope those T4 numbers get where they need to be. Hugs to you, Mum and Dad.
ReplyDeleteOh Flynn sweetie, you must get better for the mousies and for me. I’m bringing over some healing purrz and I’m gonna lay right up against you and administer them.
ReplyDeleteWe had hoped your thyroid numbers would be better but we're hoping the new meds don't have any bad side effects....those mousies should be askeered.....Flynn the Mouser is coming back!
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
Flynn, it seems like one step forward and two steps back for you. We really hope you can get all the health issues under control. We can't imagine you being unable to terrorize those mousies. You remain everyday in our purrs and prayers. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteYou are doing better. Derby looked like an old cat the day mum took him to get to the bridge. Hope you can avoid that for a while.
ReplyDeletePatches went through the same thing. I noticed a problem with her when she lost all the hair on her belly and lost so much weight. She couldn't tolerate the meds either and I wouldn't consider sending her for iodine treatment as she couldn't handle that.
ReplyDeleteWe are thankful for the good news and hope the new med. will take care of theT4 and not be a problem for you.
ReplyDeleteFor now, you keep thinking of those mousies who are needing your attention!
Sending you prayers today, Flynn and to your Mum and Dad, too.
Holding you close,
Lily
Well Flynn, we are taking this as good news! Two more weeks and hopefully most everything will be back to normal and the new meds won't bother you as much as the old. Still sending you POTP every day and Mom keeps you in her prayers every night. Sending you tons of LUVS too my friend!!
ReplyDeleteMarty, Mom and the Gang
We know all about numbers and tests but the most important thing is what the vet said - you are looking much better. And the mousies are indeed waiting and there's no way you're giving up. Paws crossed. purrs loud -keep on going dude! And we hope you stay out of the Devon snows!
ReplyDeleteWhey~Hey! Good! Good! News! Flynn!x
ReplyDeleteLots of purrrrrrrs! Bless you little man!
Bless you!x
We are glad that you are having another 2 weeks without those pills that upset you so. We hope you will try and eat more to build up your strength.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Flynn, you keep it up ! Good to hear this news !
ReplyDeleteYou know you are always in our thought. Me do paw crossed and send lots of purr to you.
Lots of love from me & mom
xoxo
Hi Flynn! I'm happy that the vet thinks you look better and I just KNOW you feel better......sorry you must go back on pills but maybe THIS one will be easier on your body and won't make you so sick. I think by the time you're back out hunting in the fields there will be TONS of mousies available for you to sort out!!!
ReplyDeleteSending Hugs and more POTP,
Sammy
Good on you my boy. We are glad you are looking better.

Hi Flynn, You are such a good boy to fight so hard so you can go chase those mousies. We are glad you look a little better but sorry the darn blood work wasn't good. We sure send many many purrs that the medicine doesn't make you sick. We have all our paws crossed for you.
ReplyDeleteFlynn, we were so hoping for better news about your thyroid. But we know you're a fighter. We hope the new medicine will help you and you won't have a reaction to it.
ReplyDeletethat's right Flynnie, dear furriend. You don't give up and those mousies better watch out!!!! We are purrring that the new medicines will help you get your levels back down to normal.
ReplyDeleteflynn we are glads that yoo r feeling more like yourselfie
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are feeling better, but I'm sad your thyroid level is so high now. Have you tried the Hill's Prescription y/d food? It is for thyroid disease. I thought maybe the food would help you with fewer side effects than the medication, but I don't know a whole lot about it.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can tolerate the new medication much better than the old one so you will feel even better soon!
Flynn, I hope you can tolerate the new medicines. Felimazole is what Smokey used to take, and he did fine with it. Does your country offer the radition therapy for the thyroid? One of the cats I sit for had it done last summer and is pill free, with normal values. She was even able to go off of her blood pressure medicine. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteFlynn, we really hope you can tolerate the new meds and are feeling better soon. We're continuing to purr for you.
ReplyDeleteWe're still purring! And yes, stay healthy so you can kick mousie butts ASAP!
ReplyDeletePurrz to you and your hoomans!
Selina & MomKatt
Purrs, barks, and prayers being sent your way, Flynn! You're a tough guy, so hang in there!
ReplyDeleteHope those mousies are enjoying their freedom while they can! Continued purrs and prayers sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteYou just hang in there, Flynn, and we are keeping all our paws and hooves crossed that you will do a lot better with the different drug when the time comes.
ReplyDeletePurrs,
The Chans
Flynn! Yous looks marvelous darling! Mes so furry happy that yous is feeling better. And taking Thyroid medication is not too bad, it will makes yous feel better. And yous knows, the PH in Hissy old Licorice's pee was high when his T4 was high.
ReplyDeleteKisses

Flynn you do look so much better and I'm glad you're feeling better. We've been helping another friend of ours who was recently diagnosed with HyperT. One thing we've seriously seen over and over again now in doing research is that the medication (which is the US is methimazole or the carbimozole in the UK) is started too strongly. When that happens it can lead to serious repercussions. I'm sure your Mom has researched this and understands. It is a very frightening thing to get suddenly thrust into medical situations that are hard to understand but we are purring and praying for you all.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a high T4 number, Flynn! But the right combination of medicine, you'll reduce it. In the meantime, it's good that other aspects of your health are improving. If you need still more water, your people may try giving it to you by mouth with a syringe. I do that for my Tungsten; she dislikes it but puts up with it.
ReplyDeletePurring and praying for you, buddy! Glad you got some good news. Hope the next round of medicine does it's job!!! :)
ReplyDeleteKeep getting better, Flynn! I'm purring for you! - Crepes.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good fight sweet Flynn, we are keeping the purrs and prayers for you going. Hugs and nose kisses sweetie

That's good news, Flynn. Soon it will be better and you'll be running in the field again, just hold on the positive spirit :D Pawkisses :) <3
ReplyDeleteHi Flynn it's Socks here the thyroid pills made me very sick so I can't take them. Mommy didn't want to send me off for RI treatment and they don't do surgery here anymore so we tried y/d food. It works by limiting your iodine intake. I didn't like the food at first but now I don't mind eating it and I feel great. When I went in for my yearly blood work all my values were where they were suppose to be including my thyroid.

We are purring hard for you Flynn and hope that you will be hunting those mousies again very soon!
ReplyDeleteFlynn, we're so glad to hear things are getting better for you. Believe it or not, those field mousies can't wait to play, so they're anxious to see you well, too.
