Sunday Selfies.

We have just come back from a cruise to Spain and the Canary Islands which is the reason I haven't been visiting for the past 2 weeks.
While we were on Gran Canaria I met a sweet little tabby who agreed to a selfie so I could have a Sunday Selfie post.

He was very friendly and enjoyed a lot of petting.
There were a lot of street cats around there and they all looked healthy. Many were ear tipped although this little man was still entire.

The blue box on the right is a dry and warm shelter and the bowl of food was full.
This handsome boy was more interested in eating than taking a selfie.

We saw several locals feeding them as we walked around. One old lady was pushing a barrow of freshly caught sardines and threw one to one of the cats. I wish I had got a photo because the cat looked so funny running off with a big fish hanging out of either side of it's mouth!

Another local had chopped up some meat and put in bowls under the awning of his cafe.
It was good to see that they care for the cats along the harbour-side.

You can see more selfies with the Kitties Blue at The Cat on my Head.

  5. How nice that they do care so much. I guess the cats also keep the rodents down too, which is another reason to help them out with the odd occasional meal. Great selfie from the youngster, and I do hope he gets the snip very soon.

Isn't it wonderful that folks take care of the feral kitties. I'm guessing many are very sweet and love being loved too. I would be out there doing the same thing.

  14. Welcome home I bet your last two weeks were wonderful and relaxing. It warms my heart to know there are kind folks everywhere who look after strays.
We save all the money we find when walking until the first of the new year.
Last two years we've had ~50.00 each year. We usually go out for steak.
    LOL

  29. I love that, in at least some parts of the world, cats are considered to be of value. Here, those cats would be considered nuisances. I wish I knew how to educate people so they'd realize what they're missing!

  31. I've always wanted to visit the Canary islands. I think, like the Azores, the idea of an archipelago far away from the continents appeals to me, though they are probably far from isolated these days. Still, I hope you will show some more photos of your journey. It's good indeed to learn of the community cats being cared for.
