This week the flashback comes from September 2009 and is called:
I Spy!
Shhh I am being stealthy. I haf spied sumfing in our field that's not yooshully there. |
Look it's big fev-vers. We don't yooshully git ducks like that here, they are yooshully smaller mallards. |
Here comes back up. Flynn has spied him too, and Mr. Duck duzn't efun know we're watching him. |
Uh-oh, he's just seen us. Now we're haffing a three way stare down. |
Note from mum:
The duck was very tame, probably from the local strawberry farm. He let me pick him up, and at the third attempt I got him to fly away, "fev-vers" intact.

WOW, that sure look like a serious pounce waiting to happy. That was a pretty duck though.
ReplyDeleteIt was a stand-off, but good that the ducky was able to make it away safe and sound.
ReplyDeleteYou are a great but peaceful hunter.
ReplyDeleteyou need duck-t tape for catching a duck... ;O)
ReplyDeleteOh summertime and hiding in long gras, just spot the bird
ReplyDeleteI tell you boys, it was a good thing that ducky didn't try to pluck some fur out of your fluffy tails.
ReplyDeleteAww! LQQKED liked the duck was driving them quackers heheh! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a flashback quacktastic weekend 👍
what a fun flashback and OMCs that Caturday are is splindid
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
Wow, he must have been super tame!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by our blog and helping me celebrate my birthday - Raz
I'm glad the three-way stare down didn't end with fev-vers flying. Mom to the rescue! You boys sure have a lot of fun. Mom's catwork is very intriguing and detailed. I hope Mom and Dad are doing well. Until next time...Jean
ReplyDeleteAll's well that ends well. The boys had their fun and the duck got home safely!
ReplyDeletePurrs,
The Chans
Such an interesting scenario to highlight! And highlight it you did. Your art serves to enhance the three main subjects. They are easier to see and appreciate amongst the copious grasses. It is certainly a memorable encounter to preserve.
ReplyDeleteInstead of duck, duck, goose, you could title this one: Cat, Cat, Duck.
Awww, that duck wanted to be a friend to the boys. Glad there was no feather gathering:)
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
You're right about Ginger Jasper, one of the few I remembered. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGlad he stayed safe around the mighty hunters!
ReplyDeleteOoo, I wonder how that stare down ended!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you stared at the duck but that your mother got it to fly off before you could chase or scare it. They can be quite nice friends if you're nice to them.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining Feline Friday!
I don't think my cats would be so calm at the sight of a duck. LOL. Recently a cardinal landed on the balcony. Bell started "talking" to it, but Fiona lunged at the balcony door. (It was closed.) I haven't seen a cardinal here since then. Lol. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sequence of pics! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWOW - now that's a BIG BIRD! How fun it must have been to "stalk" him before your Mum got him......you boys look like tigers in the jungle!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy
That sure is one cool looking duck. Mom and dad went for a hike on a new trail near our home the other day and stood for a few minutes on an overlook facing out over Asheville, watching a hawk soaring lazily this way and that.
ReplyDeleteGood capture, Mom. Referring to all the photos of course ~ but also to your ability in safely capturing duck and removing him from the about-to-be lunch table ...
ReplyDeleteSorry kitties on patrol, not today!
Oh my cod! That's the cutest thing to see them tag teaming on the bird. What a great life they had in the fields. So wonderful. xo
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun adventure for all of you. We are glad Eric and Flynn got to see something novel, and that the duck was able to keep all of its fevvers. :)
ReplyDeleteThe duck did not look too worried. Maybe he lives with cats.
ReplyDeleteLovely art. We are glad there were no feathers flying!
ReplyDeleteCute flashback. I am glad the duck survived. Thank you for the puzzle. XO
ReplyDeleteYou guys had it surrounded (sort of). But ducks can be mean...
ReplyDeleteBTW, we just noticed yer sidebar graphic fer Marley. Thank you!
We are glad no feathers were lost and no kitties were injured. Ducks, chickens and geese are vicious animals that scare us silly.
ReplyDeleteWe are glad you managed to have fun without any actual damage to that Duckie.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness all "fevvers" were intact!!
ReplyDeleteWhew! I'm glad the duck was all right. He may have been a bit too big for the boys to handle, anyway. Ducks can be pretty strong. But I did like the stand-off picture and that the boys worked together. What a team they were.
ReplyDeleteOH EM COD.....
ReplyDeletewe got like 4.9 minitz oh free wi fi two day N said ta R selvez chex out whatz goin on crozz de big pond...
FAAAAAAAAAA ~~~~~~~~
we hope that bass terd flew a way that day N dinna stay oh hay !! :)
timez up....lovez ~~~ ♥
believe it or not but that photos of the two of them stalking the duck reminds me so much of a photo i have of lions hiding in the tall grass stalking a zebra (he also made an escape!)
ReplyDeleteFlynn and Eric meant business, whether it was going to be a success or not...good thing you rescued the duck!
ReplyDeleteOMC you lucky guys, we only can wish for something like that...😸 Thank Cat he was still intact and flew away, but did he ever came back? Great artwork! Double Healing Pawkisses especially for your mom. Hope all is fine🙏🐾😽💞
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a duck. That was a big one too. *sighs* I live such a sheltered life.
ReplyDeleteThat is so good that you were able to pick hm up and that the boys weren't too zealous.
