Friday Flashback and Caturday Art.

This week the post comes from January 2011 and is called:

 Badger Hunting.

We have made mum walk down by the badger setts. We are not allowed to go in them because badgers have big scary teeth.

See how the grass and leaves are flattened and dead where we are standing. That is because Mr and Mrs Badger walk up and down here all the time.

Eric: ::sniff sniff:: Yup I can smell them.

Where I am walking is the edge of the bank but you can't see it because of the trees. I am looking through the trees to see if I can see them. The badgers have dug their setts into the bank. You can see the soil from one of the entrances in the top right corner.

Flynn: I think I hear movement. They must be home.

Eric: In that case we had better go. You know mum doesn't want us coming face to face with them. So off we went back to the fire and treaties.

I am joining Athena, the Cat Goddess for Caturday Art.

For the first art I used Beauty at 60%, then Scribble at 20%.

For Eric I used Illusion at 50%, then Landscape also at 50%

Flynn was Flow at 50%, then Hunger at 25%.

  3. ooooooO! I remember a few years back,
Badgers were 'good' to eat, if l saw one
on the side of the road, l'd pull over, cut
it's back legs off, and take them home to
    roast..!
But then, l used to pick up loads of road kill,
    pheasants, rabbits etc...
But..since the spread of bovine tuberculosis,
TB, that was the end of the badgers...! Shame
    really..!

The boys were very clever to keep away from
    them...Badgers are very dangerous animals..!

  4. Those boys were always sniffing out introoders and made a mighty fine hunting team! Love these flashbacks.....reminders of the dynamic duo are always ALWAYS fun.

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

  5. It looks like Eric and Flynn probably should have been taking a basket of tasty lettuce leaves down to the badger family. Of course I'm not sure if Badgers are vegetarian or not.

  13. All of your art creations are beautiful. You do such nice work with it.

Your story reminds me of the time Angel Thunder and Angel Ciara surprised both me and a possum who was hiding under a big tree next to our driveway. We were headed out to walk when they pulled me to the tree and pulled out a very surprised possum. One had it by the head, the other by the tail. When I told them to "leave it", they actually obeyed me and dropped it. The silly critter took its sweet time sauntering across the driveway to safety.

  18. You don't want to mess with a badger, that's for sure. It's hard to believe dachshunds were bred to deal with them.

  19. We're glad Eric and Flynn heeded your warnings, Mum Jackie. Badgers are not to messed with!

  20. Oooh, yes, We have heard that Badgers can be Furry Fierce Indeed.

  21. Us pups being terriers would likely get ourselves all shredded cause we are stubborn when it comes to other critters.
You two were wise to heed your Mum's advice and leave them alone and go home where it was warm, cozy and you got treats as a reward!

  22. Hmm badgers sound intriguing we don't think we have them here. Glad you listened to your Mom and went home without confronting them.

  25. Walking the fields with critters bigger than cats is tricky. But you had Mom with you.
