Remembering Flynn

Two years! How can it be two years since you had to leave us?
We miss you so much and that will never change. The pain never goes.
The only consolation is that you are with your brother who you missed so much when he had to say goodbye.
There are so many words I want to say but they can never be enough. I hope the photos will say them for us.
Your love of climbing trees.

The Mighty Hunter. You sat for hours waiting for the mole to come to the surface and wouldn't give up until you got it.

And of course you would always pose for your photos.

Flynn, our darling boy, we will never stop loving you and Eric, ever.

Friday Flashback and Caturday Art.

This week the flashback comes from April 2012 and features Eric who....
Won't Get Fooled Again.
Why are you holding your phone out to me?

Do you want me to speak to someone?

That's cheating! You didn't tell me it was a camera in disguise. You won't be getting away with that sneaky trick again!

Of course I can't leave Flynn out, so here is a one photo post of his from a couple of days later.

Mum was refilling my nippy toys and the tub fell off the cat tree. Score!!!

I am joining Athena the Cat Goddess for Caturday Art.

I used the last photo of Eric and started with Sadness at 25%, followed by Beauty at 40% and finished with Red Blush at 35%.
I did a 2nd picture with the Deep Dream Generator, and this one was using "A Winter's Tale."

Of course there is a puzzle.

Remembering Flynn

It is a year since you had to leave us. How can that possibly be?
It seems like only yesterday that you were lying on your back with your curled toes in the air.
Rolling around on the concrete enjoying the sun.
Twelve months, 365 days, and yet at other times it seems so long ago.
But truly it seems impossible that we haven't been able to cuddle you, or tickle that adorable tummy for a year.
We love you so much and always will do so, just as we do with your brother Eric.
We are grateful for all the love and companionship you have given us. Nothing can take that away.
It is unfair that so much love leads to heartbreak which never goes.
Life goes on for us but it will never be the same.

You were always there when I was on the computer. Maybe not helping, but you were there.

You always found the best sunspots even if it meant perching on my shoulders when I was trying to read the newspaper.

Unlike Eric who never really liked having his photo taken, you were always ready to pose for the camera.

You loved to be out in your fields keeping the mousie population down.
You would be kept busy now as there has been a population explosion with no ginger brothers to keep it under control.
Love you forever our darling boy.

A Tribute to Flynn

Flynn came to live with us along with his brother Eric when they were 5 1/2 weeks old in May 2000.

They always did everything together, and when Eric had to leave us in March 2013 Flynn was as heartbroken as we were.
He learned to cope without him but would often lie under the azaleas close to his brother's grave.

 About a year after Eric left, Flynn was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. He went on medication and then became seriously ill. We took him to the emergency on call vet who luckily was one of the senior vets at the practice. He thought that he was having an adverse reaction to the medication and was able to bring him back from the brink, which he also managed to do another 3 times.
Flynn had tremendous willpower and did everything possible to stay with us for as long as he could.

He had a good life and loved nothing better than mousie hunting.

There weren't many that would escape him.

He would also catch moles. He would sit silently not moving a muscle for maybe as long as an hour, just waiting for Mr Mole to show his nose.

He was always a good brother though, and once he had finished playing with his prey he would give it to Eric to eat. He showed him the best way to catch mice, but one of the things Eric taught Flynn was to carry on the old tradition, if in doubt, pee on it.

Amongst the other things he loved to do was to climb trees. No tree was ever too big for him. His favourite was the old oak tree.

He even took one of his selfies from between the branches.

If a tree wasn't available, he would make do with a ladder.

Although Flynn was always the active brother and had to run everywhere, he still knew how to take it easy.

Unlike Eric who disliked the camera, Flynn was always ready to pose.

Of course no tribute would be complete without the famous plant pots.

Two days before Flynn had to leave he caught his last mouse. He was so pleased with himself because it was the first one for a few months. I was going to post about it but never got the chance to do so. Even though he was so weary and ready to go, he still managed one last time to do the thing he had enjoyed so much for all of his life.

We had so many beautiful memorial tributes which I am showing here.

These words are from Laura and the Trout Towne Tabbies which she originally wrote for Boomer when he left.

~~~and St. Francis said, "Come little one, there is nothing more I can do for you here. don't be afraid", and St. Francis gently picked Flynn up and carried him into the Kingdom of Heaven.
When Flynn looked around he realised that everything that St. Francis had told him on the journey was true; Heaven was beautiful beyond what mere words could express
~~~and Flynn saw there was no pain, suffering, fear, sickness, hunger, thirst or sorrow until he looked down and saw the family and friends he had left behind, and for a very brief moment the little cat too was filled with sorrow.

Then St. Francis bestowed Flynn with a set of wings and said, "Use them to return to your family when their need is greatest, as nothing can separate your bond of love. Hold each other in your hearts and your memories until you are reunited again at Heaven's door."

~~~and when Flynn tried on his wings he knew nothing was impossible~~ where there is ...love ❤️❤️
This was from Tuna who became best friends with Flynn after Eric and Sauce left within 2 days of each other.
