Oh, no. This is awful and hard news. We are so, so sorry. We don't know what to say, we will miss Eric so much. He was a one in a million guy, an icon in the Cat Blogosphere. We only wish there was some way we could take the pain for you.

Mommie's eyes are leaking as she reads this. We loved Eric. Before we started blogging - and was just lurking - Mommie had a bad back injury that required her to be in bed all day. Eric's blog was one of a handful of blogs that she knew would make her laugh each day. I know this does not help much, but please know that Eric was a very loved cat and will be very missed.

We haven't blogged in over a month, but Teri told us this morning that Eric was very sick and we were sad...Tonight we read that he has crossed the bridge and we feel our hearts squeeze tight with tears and sorrow.
ReplyDeleteWe will always remember the boys together and smile when we think of Eric rolling in pheasant poop or 'leaving his calling card' anointing heather and gorse, hahameow.
See, we smile even though we are sad because we know how dearly he was loved by his Mum and Dad. Hug each other now and just know how fortunate you were to have him in your life...
And we thank you for sharing that life with us...Eric and Flynn have become such a part of our Curly Swirly life and made us happy to see them both enjoying farm life, something we can only imagine!

ReplyDeleteWe are all having leaky eyes at hearing the sad news of Erics' passing. He seemed to be having such a turn around for the better these past couple of weeks, clinbing trees & haybales, mousing in the fields and taking walks with you out to the barH. Eric lived life to the fullest almost to the end. I am so glad he had those few weeks where he had the energy to act like a young ginger Mancat.

No, no, no, no, no, no, NO!! This is just too painful!! We didn't know you Eric and are, in fact, just meeting you today, but we are terribly saddened that such a gorgeous, handsome, sweet hunk of mancat has left us. You with your perfect face and 'come kiss me' eyes...gone over the Bridge. We are also sad because there have been too many passing the bridge lately and we think that it is high time for this trend to stop!! We are too late to purr for you, but know that we are now purring for your Mom and Dad. We know your pain. We do. Mom cries all the time over our Lolo/Lautrec who crossed the Bridge over a year ago...we try to sooth her pain, but, well, love is a hard thing and only time can heal that...if it ever really can heal it. hey sweet fambly, just met Eric at the bridge. He's going to get his furs done and nails... then he gets to go where every sick kitty goes when they first get here to get to choose how they live here OTRB. some wanna be big kittehs still, some wanna be lean, mean killin' machines. as soon as he gets done there, Sniffie, Inigo and I will take him to his new mansion. We offered to let him stay here but once he heard where the mansion is, he said he just had to get there! It's out in the middle of the nip field, so secluded, he's got nip field on one side, woods on the other. There's so much hunting to be done, he's going to be one busy mancat! we fink he gonna take over being the hunter trainer for new arrivals that never got to hunt when they were on Planet Purrth. His welcoming banquet will be tomorrow, so that he has time to get settled in a little first. we know you are sad, but don't mourn too long. your boy has arrived safe and will be prepping his mansion for all sorts of new adventures! and we know, many many years down the road, when Flynn joins him, he will be right there to show off their home. Still can't get Eric out of my mind so had to post again. We loved his beautifully colored nose splattered with ginger. He looked human-like. And we will always remember him as surrounded by the green grass of the fields. Your blog still captures both Eric and Flynn's colors so perfectly. Hoping you are all feeling the love and prayers from everyone and that it's making you feel just a tad bit better today and more every day.

I heard of Eric's passing from Rumblepurr, who was right when he said Eric was a beautiful mancat. From your blog, it's clear that Eric was a wonderful kitty who you loved dearly. He will always be with you in spirit.
